Reducing energy intensity, improving energy efficiency, energy use and consumption is now one of the priorities in all fields. The introduction and use of systematic energy management is therefore becoming an effective tool in organizations.
For these reasons, the international standard ČSN EN ISO 50001: 2019 - Energy management systems - Requirements with instructions for use, which is applicable to all types and sizes of organizations regardless of their geographical, cultural and social conditions, i.e. that it is applicable both in heavy industry and, for example, in the hospitality industry or in the state administration.
ČSN EN ISO 50001: 2019 specifies the requirements for an energy management system (EnMS) to enable organizations to develop policies and objectives that take into account legislative requirements and information regarding significant energy aspects.
The standard is based on common elements of ISO management system standards to ensure high compatibility, especially with ČSN EN ISO 9001 and ČSN EN ISO 14001.
An organization may use this standard for the implementation of EnMS independently or integrate its requirements with other management systems, such as quality management systems, environmental management, health and safety management, financial management or risk management.
The effective implementation of the standard brings organizations primarily demonstrable energy savings, and thus costs and improved environmental image. In addition, the certification demonstrates and declares a systemic approach in this area and a guarantee of continuous improvement with regard to cost savings and reduction of negative impact on the environment.
