Energy audits

Eneregy audit

The energy audit serves primarily as the main basis for deciding on the choice of the type and scope of measures implemented in order to reduce energy intensity. As part of the energy audit, an evaluation of the existing energy management of the building or wider units and subsequent design of optimization is performed, including economic and ecological evaluation of individual variants (min. 2 variants). The conclusion of the energy audit is then the recommendation of the most suitable variant with a justification.

The energy audit is prepared on the basis of the Energy Management Act No. 406/2000 Coll. as amended (last amendment No. 318/2012 Coll.) and Implementing Decree No. 480/2012 Coll. on energy audit and energy assessment.

The obligation to prepare an energy audit applies to:

  • natural and legal persons with a total annual energy consumption of 35,000 GJ (total annual consumption of all energy in consumption points of one organization, while the subject of energy audit are only places with consumption over 700 GJ / year),
  • organizational units of the state, region, municipality and contributory organization with a total annual energy consumption of 1500 GJ (total annual consumption of all energy in consumption points of one organization, while the subject of energy audit are only places with consumption over 700 GJ / year),
  • major alterations to completed buildings to demonstrate the technical or economic inadequacy of meeting energy performance requirements.

Often, the energy audit is also processed as a condition for obtaining a subsidy for the implementation of energy saving projects.

Energy assessments

The energy assessment is also prepared on the basis of the above-mentioned legal regulations and serves primarily to assess the feasibility of specific energy measures specified in Section 9a of Act No. 318/2012 Coll. In this part of the Energy Management Act, mandatory and optional areas of energy assessment processing are listed. In some cases, e.g. for buildings with an installed energy source above 200 kW, this document must be part of the building energy performance certificate (PENB). The energy assessment must be prepared, among other things, to assess the feasibility of projects registered in the New Green Savings 2013 grant program.

An energy audit or assessment may only be prepared by an energy specialist who holds the relevant authorization granted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic.
