EAD - European Assessment Document

Technical and test Institute for Construction Prague, SOE as a Technical Assessment Body (TAB) - a member of EOTA - is authorized to prepare an EAD (European Assessment Document) for all types of construction products listed in Regulation (EU) No. 305 of the European Parliament and of the Council. / 2011 (CPR), in Annex IV.

The EAD is developed for the purpose of drafting and issuing the ETA, the procedure for its adoption is coordinated by the European Organization for Technical Assessment (EOTA) and is published in the Official Journal of the EU. It is a document containing the methods and criteria adopted by EOTA applicable to the assessment of the properties of a construction product in relation to its essential characteristics.

The EAD is prepared by an authorized TAB at the request of the manufacturer in cases where the construction product is not or not fully covered by any harmonized standard or other EAD. It replaces the previously used guidelines for the elaboration of European Technical Approvals (ETAGs) and is de facto similar to standards, but its preparation is much faster than for standards. In addition, the manufacturer is fully involved in the creation of the EAD. For these reasons, this is a process suitable for innovative products, among other things.

All valid EADs are published on the EOTA website.
