The Building Fire Safety Branch (PBS) provides executive and informative activities for:
- fire expert opinions, professional opinions, proposals for the optimum range of tests, and extended application of test results of building structures and products in order to assess conformity, planning permission and approval proceedings, etc.;
- classification of fire resistance and reaction to fire of construction products and structures in accordance with European classification standards of the ČSN EN 13501 series and subsequent classification of structures in accordance with ČSN 73 0810.
Scope of activity:
- structural and non-structural fire separating constructions (vertical, inclined and horizontal);
- fire, smoke-proof and fire smoke-proof doors;
- hoistway doors;
- fire protective coatings and claddings of building structures;
- sealing systems of cable and pipe passages using fire separating structures;
- sealing systems of construction joints;
- chimneys and chimney liners;
- air ducts and dampers.

Conformity assessment, certification of construction products marketed with the CE mark in accordance with Act No. 22/1997 Coll., on Technical Requirements for Products, as amended, and Government Regulation No. 190/2002 Coll., as amended (activities of Notified Body 1020).

- hoistway doors;
- fire doors of technical or technological equipment;
- fire protective coatings and cladding of building structures;
- sealing systems of cable and pipe passages using fire separating structures;
- sealing systems of construction joints;
- systems and components of fire alarms;
- systems and components of fixed extinguishing equipment;
- chimney liners, multilayer chimneys and pressure chimneys;
- certification of quality management system (ČSN EN ISO 9001) as part of the activity of Certification Body 3001.
